What's Coming Up?

This Wednesday 20th June the teachers will be leaving school at 1.15pm to attend their paid union meeting which starts at 1.30 pm.  Could you please make arrangements to pick your child(ren) up from school by 1.15pm. If you are unable to pick your children up, please advise us so that your children can be supervised until the end of the day. Mrs Eastwood and Mrs Gilbert will be the supervisors for the afternoon.

WACKY WIG  DAY- Wednesday 20th June am To support Child cancer foundation- please wear a wig! Homemade wigs are great and there are Wig templates available on wigwednesday.org.nz  Please bring a gold coin for the foundation. Mufti is optional. OUR GOAL IS $200. If we reach this goal Mrs Eastwood MUST wear a wig of our choice for 2 school days!!! 11am - parade with prizes- participation, best homemade wig , craziest wig, most colourful. (If you don't have a wig you can wear wacky hair).

Thursday 21 June is our first day of ice skating. Children will need jackets, hats, waterproof pants if possible, gloves or mittens and a helmet. If you are free, please come to help as we always need parents to help with getting ice-skates on and off. Our other sessions are Tuesday 26 June, Thursday 28 June, Tuesday 3 July and Thursday 5 July.

The Matariki breakfast that was to be this Friday 22 June has been postponed to Week 1, Term 3 as Matariki is not visible in Central Otago at the moment but hopefully will be then.

Next Thursday 28 June is our school cultural assembly.  Room 7 will be singing a song from the Phillipines, with the help of Chyna Javier.  You are welcome to come along if you can make it.

The children will be presenting their Eisteddfod poem to the class next week.  Please help your child to choose a poem (it can be one from their poetry book), and start practising it soon. I have included the marking schedule:

Introduction  5
Say the name of your poem
Say the name of the poet
Say why you chose the poem

Presentation 10

Make eye contact with the audience
Try not to rush
Look like you are enjoying sharing your favourite poem

Preparation 5

Also, we currently have head lice in Room 7.  Please check your child's hair thoroughly and treat if necessary.
