Week 5, Term 2

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Well, the last week of swimming!  Remember togs on Tuesday and Thursday. We have included some more survival skill photos.  The children have learnt how to exit the lifeboat, breathe underneath the boat, climb back in and pull others back into the boat. Last week's photos showed the children learning how to keep warm in a huddle and they have also learnt the position for keeping warm if they were by themselves.

We have also included some action station photos of focus children from Weeks 3 and 4.

Please save any lids of containers or bottles and send along to school for our "Loose Bits" container.

Just letting you know that this term's Eisteddfod is poetry and we will be listening to poems in Week 9 or 10.

Have a great week,

Sue and Kate

Hi everyone,

We hope all mums and grandmas were spoilt on Mother's Day and had a lovely relaxing day.

There is lots happening this week!

Also, if you have any old cereal boxes at home please bring them on Monday for Art.

Monday is Caritas Day. Caritas Aotearoa NZ is an agency that works towards making a real
difference in the lives of people living with poverty or injustice. The Caritas Challenge is an annual event that builds solidarity with the poor. In support of this we are having a ‘Rice Day’ at school.  Children are allowed to have morning tea and will only have rice for lunch.  So no pie warmers tomorrow. Please provide your child with a named bowl and spoon.  If your child is unable to eat rice, please let me know. Sponsorship forms were also sent home and these can be returned to school by May 25th.

As a follow-up to our netball skills sessions, we are having a house netball tournament at the netball courts on Wednesday 16 May. Children are to wear their house colours and we will walk up to the courts after an early lunch. (Sausages are still available).  The tournament will run from 12.30 to 3.00 and children are to be picked up from the netball courts. Bus children will be brought back to school in time to catch their buses.

Each week we are focusing on four children during Action Stations. Here are some photos from Week 1 and 2.

Have a great week,

Week 2 Term 2

Hi everyone

We hope all the children had a good first week back at school.

This week, swimming and netball continue so children may wear their sports uniforms from Monday-Thursday.

On Wednesday the junior syndicate teachers are travelling to Dunedin to watch "Play is the Way" operating in three Dunedin schools, so there will be a reliever in the classroom this day.

Please keep sending containers, boxes and pottles  and any loose bits such as lids. along to school.

NZ ski passes

NZSKI are offering Local School Passes this year for the same low price as last year.  $100 for primary aged children (5 years and under are just $20) $165 for secondary school aged children. Passes will be available from the Queenstown Snow Centre from 8th May, and  there is no deadline for purchase.
(Please let Chrissy know if you wish to purchase this as she has to forward your name to the snow centre to verify you are at a Central Otago school. She will need these names before the 8th May.)

Have a good week

Sue and Kate
