Week 9, Term 2 2018

Hi everyone

Thank you to those parents who brought their children along to school Mass yesterday to support Sefton making his Baptism.  A big congratulations to Sefton! The children were very interested in watching the Baptisms, as for some it was the first time they had ever seen anyone being baptised.

Also, thank you for your support for Wig Wednesday, where we raised over $200 towards child cancer.

Please note we currently have head lice in Room 7.  Please check your child's hair and treat if necessary.

What's Coming Up?

Ice-skating on Tuesday and Thursday - please remember helmets and gloves.

This Thursday 28 June is our cultural assembly organised by some senior pupils where we celebrate all the different cultures in our school.  Room 7 is performing "Alimango", a Filipino song taught to us by Chyna Javier. Please come along and support this assembly if you are free.

Please make sure that your child has a poem ready to present to the class for our school Eisteddfod. If you can not find a poem, they can choose one from their poetry book. We will probably be listening to these either later in the week or next Monday or Tuesday.

Reminder - School Mass this Sunday

Hi everyone

Just a reminder that this Sunday is the Feast of St John the Baptist and it is our school mass at 9.00am.  Six children from St Gerards are going to be baptised and Sefton is one of these.  All children are expected to attend in school uniform and please bring a plate to share for morning tea afterwards or an item for the food bank to be placed in the basket at the back of the church.  If you are not able to make it please let us know. Hopefully most children will be there to support Sefton on this special day.

Thanks

Sue and Kate

I have included some photos from our Firefighter Charlie's visit.  Some children were dressed up as firefighters and had to wave the "smoke" up and down. Others had to get down, get low and get out to escape the imaginary fire.  Firefighter Charlie had to go back in and rescue Quinn who was stuck inside.

Have a great week,

Sue and Kate

Week 6 Term 2

Hi everyone
Hope you all had an enjoyable Queen's Birthday weekend.  Here's hoping the sun reappears this week!

Just a quiet week this week.  We are starting a Firewise unit this week beginning tomorrow.

I will be testing this week on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to writing reports so will not be taking Guided Reading. Children will bring home a browsing book on these days.

Have included some photos from the last week of swimming where children had to swim in their pyjamas in deep water and practise throwing flotation aids to their buddies.

Please remember to get your child to read their poem to you and sign it, as this is their weekend reading.

Also as these days are very cold, it would be a good idea for your child to bring a jacket to school and wear tights (girls) or long pants (boys).  The children are sometimes outside at Action Stations and are often sitting eating their lunch outside. When we were at the playground last week before swimming, some children were very cold, especially boys in shorts.

Have a good week and stay warm,

Sue and Kate
